I'd been wanting to get this shot for a long time. The sun only sets directly in-line with the bridge for a few weeks out of every year and you can only hope for the sky to cooperate in crafting a beautiful sunset. Some years it never does during this time window. Many fruitless trips to the bridge resulted in drab skies until this day when everything came together perfectly.
The technical execution of the shot was particularly difficult due to the high volume of pedestrian activity amid the sizable gear I was using to shoot directly in the middle of the pathway. In a stroke of good luck, I had no run ins with the bridge police. Due to the extremely high resolution of the shot, I love reading all of the tiny hand-scrawled graffiti - memoirs of so many visitors' moments on the bridge, few of which were as magical as this one.
