Washington DC's many reflecting pools represent fantastic opportunities to capture the stunning monuments and parks that populate the city. They do this especially well during the gloaming, which is the time of day when the very last traces of twilight remain in the sky.
Washington DC's streetlights have a warmer hue than most other cities, causing the gloaming to have a more orange/red/purple color than usual. Additionally, because the city has less light pollution than other equally-important cities due to its smaller scale, the stars are visible earlier in the evening. Combine all of these elements and you have a recipe for a dreamy image.
