This photo was made on the statistically-measured peak day of Autumn foliage in 2015. I arrived in Central Park well before dawn and set up my gear to be ready to capture the first rays of sunlight cast onto the "Mall," a gorgeous treed-lined promenade that runs through the middle of the park.

Initially, I had planned to create the image in a manner that did not have any people visible. However, after reviewing the many images I captured to create the scene, I realized that the people added a special character and emotion to the moment. There's a happy couple strolling through the middle of the scene, a photographer capturing another couple sitting on a park bench, a person walking a dog, and much more. Central Park is constantly full of happy people enjoying its beauty, and representing it otherwise would be disingenuous.
